
On February 4, 2026, the International Winter School “Auezov University – 2026” opened at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. The program was organized by the Department of World History and Museum Studies. The opening session focused on a highly relevant UNESCO theme: “Preservation, Protection, and Management of World Historical and Cultural Heritage.” The event became a unique platform for students, researchers, and specialists, providing an opportunity to exchange experience, discuss important issues, and expand knowledge in the field of cultural heritage protection.
On behalf of the Botai State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, research staff members Marat Makeev and Damir Toktarov took part in the Winter School as speakers, delivering a presentation on the topic: “Activities on the Preservation, Protection, and Museification of the Botai Settlement in the North Kazakhstan Region.”
During the presentation, the speakers addressed the global significance of the Botai site, modern approaches to its preservation and protection, as well as the main directions of museum activities.
