“In the Depths of Historical Heritage”

In order to preserve and promote the historical and cultural heritage of steppe civilization, a series of events have been planned and are being implemented by the Department of Scientific Research and the Department of Scientific Collections and Excursion Services of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai,” in cooperation with the Agro-Technical College of Saumalkol village within the framework of industrial practice.

Today, the Botai Museum-Reserve and the Center for the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage of North Kazakhstan Region signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The main purpose of the agreement is to combine efforts in the preservation, study, and promotion of the rich historical and cultural heritage of our region.

The parties agreed to collaborate in the following areas:

  • conducting scientific research and archaeological expeditions;
  • developing and implementing educational and outreach projects;
  • promoting cultural heritage through exhibitions, lectures, and events;
  • exchanging experience and information in the field of monument protection.

The signing of the memorandum will become an important step in preserving and passing on this unique heritage to future generations.

Tracological studies of artifacts of the Botai culture.

On September 27, within the framework of the archaeological school "XII Bulgarian International Archaeological School" (Turkestan), the scientific research department of the Botai Museum-Reserve together with Natalia Nikolaevna Skakun, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Senior researcher at the IMC RAS, conducted tracological studies of artifacts of the Botai culture.

In the course of the work, traces of use on bone tools were studied, which made it possible to clarify their purpose and manufacturing techniques. Special attention was paid to micro-traces of wear and comparison with similar materials from other archaeological complexes.

On September 27, within the framework of the archaeological school “12th Bulgarian International Archaeological School” (Turkestan), the Research Department of the Botai Museum-Reserve, in cooperation with Candidate of Historical Sciences and Senior Research Fellow of the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IHMC RAS) Natalia Nikolaevna Skakun, conducted traceological studies of artifacts of the Botai culture.

During the study, use-wear traces on bone tools were examined, which made it possible to clarify their function and manufacturing techniques. Special attention was paid to micro-wear traces and their comparison with similar materials from other archaeological complexes.
