
On June 7, 2023, a field seminar on the topic “Ботай мәдениеті-ұлт шежіресі” was held at the Botai Settlement in the Aiyrtau District of the North Kazakhstan Region. The event was dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Botai Museum-Reserve. The seminar was attended by young local historians of the region, university lecturers, and museum researchers. As part of the event, a guided tour of the Botai settlement was organized for participants of the regional gathering of young local historians. An exhibition titled “Ботай мәдениеті-ұлт шежіресі” was presented, along with master classes on the production of ancient tools and household items.
With a welcoming speech, the director of the Botai State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.G. Shakshakova, addressed the participants of the seminar. Students participating in the archaeological practice also shared their experience gained during the excavations, their impressions of the daily life of archaeologists, and spoke about the excavations and discoveries.
After the official part of the seminar, a ceremony was held to initiate the students into the ranks of archaeologists. Thus, the field seminar, according to the participants, made a significant contribution to the “knowledge bank” of the younger generation, providing an opportunity to visually observe archaeological methods firsthand, acquire useful educational skills, and expand their outlook and knowledge.
