The State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized a special promotional event and flash mob titled “Botai – The History and Culture of the Centuries,” dedicated to the beginning of archaeological excavations at the Botai settlement and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Botai Museum-Reserve. The purpose of this event was to preserve and promote national traditions among young people. University students currently participating in the archaeological expedition at the Botai settlement in the Aiyrtau District of the North Kazakhstan Region took part in the dance performance.

“Qara Zhorga” is an ancient Kazakh dance that regained popularity in Kazakhstan in the mid-2000s. Before performing the dance, the students shared their thoughts with the staff of the Botai Museum. The central idea among them was the importance of national self-identification in the era of globalization, as well as the preservation of cultural identity, which requires acquiring knowledge and improving educational levels. The students are actively interested in archaeological methods, artifacts, and the ancient dwellings of the Botai people, and are learning the basics of local history and the history of their ancestors. Therefore, the students decided to draw attention to the study of national history, traditions, and customs by performing the dance “Qara Zhorga.”
