
On May 22, 2023, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Bozok” held an international scientific and practical conference titled “Traditional Rituality as a Manifestation of Remembering Culture: Resources and Strategies of Symbolic Capital of Steppe Eurasia”. The event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003), the 10th anniversary of the Concept on the Protection and Development of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Republic of Kazakhstan (2013), and the 25th anniversary of the beginning of research on the medieval settlement “Bozok” (1998).
The aim of the conference was to discuss current issues related to the study, preservation, and representation of the intangible cultural heritage of Eurasia.
The conference brought together archaeologists, ethnographers, historians, art historians, and museologists from Azerbaijan, Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, and Russia.
The event was held in both offline and online (ZOOM) formats.
For this occasion, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” organized an exhibition titled “Ботай - мыңжылдық жолымен”. The exhibition explained the dating, manufacturing techniques, and purposes of ceramic items and artifacts made of stone and bone, discovered in the cultural layers of the Botai culture.
