On May 18, 2023, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai”, as part of the “Night of Museums” campaign, held the festival “Ботай пырағы – 2023,” dedicated to International Museum Day.

Several activity zones operated simultaneously on the territory of the Botai settlement. Visitors had the opportunity to watch theatrical performances, including the domestication of the horse, horsehide processing, the production of stone discs, and the preparation of the traditional beverage – kumys. Guests could also try making replicas of ancient artifacts by hand, ride horses, and enjoy the “altybakan” swing. An exhibition titled “Botai – A Journey Through Millennia” was also presented for visitors. In addition, competitions in spear throwing and archery were organized among guests, with winners receiving diplomas.

The event continued with the theatrical performance “The Call of Ancestors” an open-air cinema screening in the fresh air, and a professional fire show (FIRE SHOW), including the ceremonial lighting of the Botai flame, followed by a concert program.

The event concluded with an award ceremony honoring museum staff for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of historical and cultural heritage, as well as a festive fireworks display.
