In honor of the 5th anniversary of its establishment, the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Botai” announces a republican essay competition on the topic: “The Botai Settlement – Ancient Abode of Civilization.”

Purpose:

• Prization of the national heritage and fostering a sense of patriotism among the younger generation;
• Introduction to Botai culture and promotion of archaeological monuments;
• Formation of an active civic position and personal involvement of youth in promoting the historical and cultural sites of their native region, as well as increasing interest in regional history;
• The competition is also aimed at identifying students’ creative abilities and stimulating interest in history.

COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Full disclosure and development of the essay topic;
• Use of historical data and reliable sources when preparing the essay;
• Written literacy (observance of style, spelling, and punctuation rules);
• Creative works (essays) may be submitted in either the state Kazakh language or Russian language (at the participant’s choice).

COMPETITION CONDITIONS:

• Since the competition is held remotely, participants must complete an application form and submit their written creative works (according to the attached table below) via email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  
• The essay must be prepared in A4 format, typed on a computer, and must not exceed 4 pages. Font: Times New Roman, font size: 14 pt, line spacing: 1.5. Margins of 2 cm must be left on all sides.
• Along with the submitted work, participant information and a 10×5 photograph must also be provided.

Submission period for creative works:
March 1, 2023 – April 1, 2023

Announcement of competition results:
April 15, 2023

Eligible participants:
Students of grades 5–11 from general education institutions.
